Leslie Rasmussen, Ph.D.

Leslie Rasmussen and her family moved to the Cincinnati area in 2014 and have resided in Anderson Township since 2016. She was elected to the Forest Hills Board of Education in November 2019 and began her term in January 2020. Leslie earned a doctorate degree in mass communication with a minor in instructional technology and design from the University of Southern Mississippi. She holds a master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in communication from Texas State University and Texas A&M University-CC, respectively.

Leslie is an award-winning teacher and researcher, and currently works as an Associate Professor of Communication at Xavier University, and serves as the department Internship Coordinator and the Director of the Political Communication minor. Her work has been published in books and journals, and has been featured in New Science Magazine, The Verge, and other media outlets. She has been named Faculty Member of the Year, PRSA Faculty Member of the Year, Graduate Student Teacher of the Year, and won top ‘Great Ideas for Teaching’ awards, and a variety of research awards throughout her career.

Prior to working in higher education, she gained experience in development while working in public relations and event planning for two national nonprofit organizations.

She and her husband, Michael, have two children, Reagan and Evan. Evan is a little young for school, but he can’t wait to join his big sister at her beloved Maddux Elementary.
